California Park
California Park is the developing residential neighborhood east of Bruce Road and north of Highway 32. This area contains a smaller area known as Canyon Oaks. California Park consists of a lake that the homes surround and also several smaller parks with playgrounds. These homes do consists of HOA dues monthly and some annually. This neighborhood is within walking distance of the private golf course Canyon Oaks.
Nob Hill
Nob Hill is the developing residential neighborhood west of Bruce Road and north of Highway 32. This neighborhood is close to Bidwell Park and the Chico Mall.
Doe Mill
Doe Mill is the developing urban residential neighborhood generally north of East Twentieth Street and East of Bruce Road.
Mansion Park
Mansion Park is the high end residential neighborhood adjacent to the Bidwell Mansion, and immediately between the northeast corner of the Chico State campus and Chico High School. This neighborhood is notable for its being a preferred parking zone for residents with permits only, located in an area of the city with very impacted parking. This neighborhood is home to the Albert E. Warrens Reception Center (formerly the Julia Morgan House), and the Bidwell Amphitheatre. Originally, home to mostly university professors and staff, other professionals and upper middle class families now also call it home.
Longfellow Village
This neighborhood was developed in the 1950’s by Fred Hignell Jr. and Fred Davis. This community includes Lindo Channel on the north, Palmetto Avenue on the south, the westerly part of Karen Drive on the west and Verbena Avenue on the east. These homes consist of three models: 3 bedroom, 1 bath; 3 bedrooms, 2 bath; and 4 bedrooms, 1 bath. This neighborhood is affordable and close to everything. Most of these homes are very close to eachother. The facade of the homes is flat, typically with a two-car garage and several small square windows in the front. The colors of the homes range from robin’s egg blue to beige. Some homes have been painted to fit the changing times with more earthy tones. Neal Dow and Sierra View Elementary schools are within walking distance.
